Clinical Supervision & Consultation | Bowen Family Systems Theory | BC

At SteadyCore Counselling we are Approved Clinical Supervisors with the BCACC offering a Bowen Family approach to clinical supervision for registered counsellors in British Columbia.  We support counsellors who are seeking greater clarity, steadiness, and confidence in their clinical work.

What we explore: We work with you to think and respond clearly by focusing on systems, differentiation of self, and the emotional process. Rather than emphasizing techniques alone, supervision explores how tension moves through the client's system and within the therapeutic relationship.

Supervision supports counsellors to:

  • Strengthen case conceptualization using a systems lens

  • Work thoughtfully with client reactivity, triangles (eg. with couples), and parallel process

  • Navigate ethical and professional challenges with clarity

  • Develop a steady, non-anxious presence in complex clinical situations

Who is this for: Clinical supervision at SteadyCore Counselling is reflective, collaborative, and self-paced, making it well suited to both newer and experienced registered counsellors seeking Bowen-informed supervision for professional growth and continuing competency.

Clinical Consultation Group

Overview

These monthly, one-hour online consultation sessions are for counsellors who want to strengthen their case conceptualization skills and apply Bowen Family Systems theory more thoughtfully in their clinical work. Clients develop patterned ways of responding to life’s challenges—often outside of awareness and shaped across generations. This group offers space to slow down, observe these patterns, and expand clinical thinking.

What We’ll Explore

Consultation will focus on questions such as:

  • What emotional patterns are present in this client’s life?

  • How might sibling position influence functioning?

  • How do triangles contribute to symptoms or presenting concerns?

  • Where might the client begin to make sustainable change?

  • How are you managing self as a therapist in this work?

Who This Group Is For

This group is open to both newer and experienced counsellors interested in deepening their clinical work from a Bowen Family Systems perspective. Articles and short videos may be shared to support learning.
